Shopping pre-loved means every piece is one-of-one, and sizing can vary a lot between brands, decades, and fabrics. A size tag alone doesn't always tell the full story, so here's exactly how we take measurements, and how to use them to shop with confidence.
How we measure
All measurements are taken with the garment laid flat on a table, not stretched.
- Bust/Chest: Measured straight across, armpit to armpit, then doubled.
- Waist: Measured straight across the narrowest point, then doubled.
- Hip: Measured straight across the widest point, then doubled.
- Length: Measured from the top shoulder seam straight down to the hem (tops/dresses), or from the waistband straight down to the hem (bottoms).
- Sleeve length (where applicable): Measured from shoulder seam to cuff.
Since fit varies by brand, era, and material, we always measure the actual piece rather than relying on the size tag alone. If you're between sizes, we recommend comparing these numbers to a similar piece already in your closet.
